If Your Cuisinart Coffee Pot Breaks, Rest Assured, Cuisinart Has A Replacement Carafe
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Susan_Bravero]Susan Bravero
Alright, so assuming you're an avid coffee drinker, you know that the carafe is just as important - if not more - than the coffee itself! The good folks over a Cuisinart seem to think so as well. Drinking coffee is something that most of us do every day and everyone already knows that if you are repeatedly using something day in and day out, it's bound to either wear out or break. Yes my friend I'm telling you that chances are one day your precious carafe may break. But when that day comes, no need to worry! Cuisinart has replacement carafes that will get you right back on track to your coffee sipping mornings (breathe).
How many times have you faced disappointment when you've bought something and when it's time for a replacement it's nowhere found? Or you've had something for so long that when it breaks you find out that they don't even make that model anymore? Oh the horror! Luckily Cuisinart has made this issue a thing of the past! They offer their replacement carafes in 10 cup, 12 cup and 14 cup. They also have replacements for every coffeemaker they offer and they have it in an array of colors! Their carafes are available in white, black, red and even pink.
Your replacement is literally at their command. Now I know it's hard and seemingly pointless to brag on a carafe, but don't get mad at me, be mad at the big-wigs over at Cuisinart for making such good products! Cuisinart product lines are reliable and high quality, and their carafes are no exception. Cuisinart carafes come with nice, thick glass, so they are definitely not easily broken. One great boasting feature is Cuisinart carafes do not leak! I know that it's unbelievable but this is actually something that you're going to have to see on your own. They are also the perfect size making it easy to pour into small mouthed containers as well as your coffee cup.
The design is also very attractive, which fits right into the design of many homes.. Like I stated earlier, it's almost too hard these days to find a replacement anything, let alone a replacement carafe. You, as a consumer, deserve to have an exact replica of something you once owned.. Cuisinart never fails to amaze, as they always seem to keep the consumer in mind with their top of the line products. It's no wonder why they are one of the most known and trusted brands in the industry.
Now I know this article has you excited but please refrain from throwing your carafe at a wall just because you know you can get a replacement at any time. Just know, that when the time comes for you to buy a new identical carafe, there will be one available for you.

Why a One Cup Coffee Maker Is a Great Purchase!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joyce_Journet]Joyce Journet
Owning a one cup coffee maker can be a real advantage at breakfast time. Whilst instant coffee could never be accused of tasting anywhere near as good as the freshly brewed, gourmet variety, one of the advantages it does have is speed. You fancy a coffee and it's ready. Conventional coffee machines require planning and a delay before you can get to drink your cup of java! But now with the arrival of one cup coffee machines all this has changed and you can drink the real thing in record time.
If you have a conventional coffee machine you may have noticed how wasteful it can be. Stop and think of how many times you have made a pot of coffee, only to pour half of it away. Even the most dedicated coffee drinker struggles to drink a whole pot, they shouldn't anyway and if you try reheating it later, it never tastes as nice and is often bitter. With a one cup coffee maker this will never be a problem and you will save money by not wasting your coffee.
The single cup machines tend to be smaller and neater than regular versions and they cost less. They can be left conveniently in a handy place on your counter top, ready whenever you fancy a cup and take up hardly any space. You can use a one cup coffee maker with any type of ground coffee or freshly ground beans, they usually have a small built in filter, so there is no need for the messy paper kind. You simply place the coffee in the filter and the water in the holder and it filters through. This is also useful for tea drinkers, who can put either loose tea or even a teabag in the filter for their favorite brew. These filters are very easy to clean and make no mess. The speed of the machines is remarkable as most make your brew in less than a minute, and many in around thirty seconds. You can use almost any mug and some are supplied with a travel mug as a useful extra. As many of the coffee makers are small they are practical to take with you when traveling.
If you are thinking of buying a one cup coffee maker, first look at the selection. There are now quite a variety with some using pods containing coffee which are available in a wide range of blends, instead of ground coffee, and in some you can use either. If you like to try different flavors, the pod type could be ideal as you can experiment with several sorts of coffee. You can just buy small amounts of pods if you want to try one instead of a whole bag of the ground variety. There will be a wide difference in prices, some of the machines are very reasonably priced, but other more sophisticated versions will cost more. It is a good idea to read the reviews of the models you are interested in before buying. Whichever type you purchase, you will be sure that every cup of coffee from a one cup coffee maker you drink will be as delicious and fresh as it can be, with no variation in the flavor or the strength.

The Story of Gabriel De Clieu: A Coffee Visionary
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dave_Cunliffe]Dave Cunliffe
From the mid-17th century, coffee was increasingly popular in the Western World. Various European powers had tried to grow coffee without any success due to the specific growing conditions required for the plants to thrive. However the Dutch had led the way in mass production by introducing the crop to their colony in Java (Indonesia) where warm and humid conditions coupled with the high altitude were an ideal growing environment.
Gabriel-Mathieu de Clieu was born in Normandy, France in 1688. He joined the navy and by 1720 he was appointed Captain of Infantry. He was stationed on the Caribbean island of Martinique and being well aware of the commercial success that the Dutch were having he decided to bring coffee production to Martinique in the name of France.
Whilst on leave in Paris in 1723, his first task was to obtain a coffee plant, which was actually very difficult as the only coffee plants in France at that time were under the guarded care of the King's botanist. He overcame this problem by seducing a lady of the court who in turn used her charms on the royal physician. He 'acquired' a small coffee seedling for de Clieu.
In preparation for the voyage of his precious cargo, Gabriel de Clieu designed and made a small glass box to house the plant on the ship's deck. This would protect it from the salt spray and the elements but still keep it warm and allow the sun rays to penetrate.
His journal tells of an eventful journey, with the ship being threatened by pirates from Tunis, a violent storm and then a long period when the ship was becalmed and water was rationed. Captain de Clieu shared his meagre water rations with the coffee plant for over a month.
Perhaps worst of all was a passenger on board (believed to be Dutch), who jealous of the mission, attempted to sabotage the plant and even tore off a branch in a vicious attack.
Captain de Clieu lovingly tended the plant throughout the arduous months on board and eventually they arrived safely on Martinique. Due to the fear of theft de Clieu located his precious plant within view on his estate, surrounded by thorn bushes and guarded round the clock by slaves until it reached maturity.
The first harvest was a great success. Soon after, a terrible cyclone uprooted all the islands cocoa trees, closely followed by an earthquake in 1727 which submerged the land and destroyed the native people's main source of income. The coffee crop took the place of the cocoa trees and began to thrive. In fact just 50 years later the one little seedling imported by de Clieu had produced 18,791,680 coffee plants in Martinique alone!
Coffee plantations were being introduced throughout the islands of the Caribbean and at some point the Brazilian government sent a spy to steal a plant from the French. From this act grew the World's largest coffee empire.
It may be a little romantic to believe that most of the World's coffee is descended from de Clieu's little seedling but his endeavours cannot be underestimated. Captain Gabriel de Clieu died in Paris in 1774, aged 88. He was eventually honoured with a memorial but never received any financial reward for his efforts and died in poverty.

It may well be that in order to wake up in the morning and get your work hat on, you need to start the day with a strong hit of coffee in order to switch your brain on and stop your eyes from closing over. These are all uses of coffee and if you have got it as an important part of your life then it can be hard to imagine it without it. All of these things then are reliant on coffee and without it it can feel like there's a whole in your life. You may even end up spending a lot of money on all those mugs and this is why it's important to find other ways to buy coffee and to enjoy it.

Espresso Vs Coffee - How to Make Espresso
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joyce_Kaaland]Joyce Kaaland
There are many ways to make an espresso, and there are many ways to make coffee. However, espresso is the drink of the day. Like the many ways to make an espresso, there are a number of reasons why people drink espressos. An espresso made with Arabica beans has less caffeine in it than drip coffee. People drink espressos as a social drink at places where they can sit and talk. Some may say it is a fad, but I think it goes beyond that. Espressos have many different tastes from not only just Arabica beans, but a variety of bean blends and from a great number of flavorings and spices that can be added to personalize their choice.
A home espresso machine makes espressos by released heated water and steam under pressure through compressed coffee grinds in a portafilter. This combination of hot water and steam under pressure creates a very specific and different action on the ground coffee than how regular coffee is made. It is a chemical process that coffee makers cannot achieve.
Espresso machines come in several categories. There is a moka maker as well as simple pump machines, semi-automatic and super automatic ones. A moka pot is an Italian steam-based stove-top espresso maker. The bottom section holds water and usually has a pressure valve. A filter piece filled with ground coffee is in the middle and the top section that will hold the brewed espresso is screwed onto the bottom section. When the maker is placed on a hot stove-top burner, the boiling hot water and steam are forced through the ground coffee into the top part of the maker. This is a low pressure espresso and is very popular although some do not consider a moka maker as a true espresso machine.
A handpresso holds a ground coffee pod in a basket for one cup of espresso. Pump the machine until 16 bar pressure is achieved and then add the hot water to the reservoir and tighten the lid. The next step is to add an Easy Serving Espresso (ESE) pod to the portafilter and close the lid. Then you simply press the dispenser button on the top of the handpresso and the quality espresso will flow out through the dispenser spout on the end.
Pump espresso machines and semi-automatic machines have an activation switch that engages the machine's pump for hot steam. These machines use finely ground coffee in a porta-filter for the steam to go through. They also have a frother for making cappuccinos. An automatic machine heats the water, pumps up the right amount of steam and then runs on its own. Super automatics are fully automatic espresso machines that can be connected to a water line, grind your coffee the way you have it programmed and brew your espresso to your pre-set conditions stored in the machine. The latest models will make a pre-set recipe for each person just by their pre-set thumb print.
Commercial espresso machines make espressos and other drinks the same way as some home espresso rel=nofollow [http://www.coffeemakersshop.com/page/441011582]machines. However, they are made for much more constant use and are designed for registered baristas.

Coffee, Kona Coffee Festival And Barista: Hawaiian Perfection In The Cup
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Timothy_S._Collins]Timothy S. Collins
Recently, I was visiting a Barista friend in Hawaii which is the only American state where farmers grow and sell coffee beans commercially. Hawaii has mineral rich volcanic soil that produces some of the world's best beans. My barista friend paused to sip some freshly brewed 100% Extra Fancy Grade Kona specialty gourmet coffee before continuing. Kona coffee is harvested by hand. The family-owned farms are usually small. Kona coffee grows on the slopes of Hualali and Mauna Loa, located in the North and South Kona Districts of the big island of Hawaii. The Kona designation applies only to the beans from these Kona Districts.
The barista stopped to welcome a couple of regular patrons. He took their orders and explained that he was telling me the story of Kona coffee and the Kona Coffee Festival. The patrons expressed interest in the topic and asked how soon the festival would take place. Not until early November and it is well worth attending, said the barista. Before we get into details about the festival, let me share with you why Kona coffee is simply fantastic,
1. The soil conditions are basically coffee perfect.
2. Add to that recipe for success the sunny mornings, regular rainfall in the afternoons, cloud cover in the mornings, not too much wind and mild nights.
3. Kona snow, as we call the coffee flowers that bloom in February and March, are followed by green berries in April and finally red berries between August and January.
4. Each tree is handpicked and yields between 20 to 30 pounds of cherries. The cherries are processed through specific steps we can discuss in the future, if you would like.
The result is this great specialty brew worth every penny I charge! Upon hearing his, everyone laughed hard and nodded that the coffee was delicious but it was expensive. Yes, the barista said, certified Kona coffee is expensive because the production is limited which makes the beans rare and in very high demand.
Okay, said one of the patrons. We agree that Kona coffee is priceless. What about this Kona Coffee Festival in early November? Should I plan a visit to the Big Island in November? In the Midwest, where I live, is cold that time of the year. A trip back to Hawaii sounds very appealing. The barista replied, November in Hawaii is also a great opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving like you have not done before. What makes the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival really fun is that it has a hometown celebration style. Visitors mix with locals and you get a sense of belonging that is very special.
Because the festival is scheduled during the berry harvesting season, the scheduled events combine activities on and off the coffee plantations. What do you mean by that?, said the Midwesterner. Let me explain, said the barista. There are "cupping" competitions for the coffee growers to see who produced the best crop for the year. There are speed-picking contests that test strategy and agility for the fastest cherry picking. For coffee fans, there are workshops about cooking with coffee, tours of coffee plantations, the history of coffee and much more. What about hula performances, barista? Oh, yeah, there are hula performances by famous Hawaiian performers singing beautiful Hawaiian melodies.
The International Lantern Parade is an evening event that celebrates Kona's heritage with groups in colorful ethnic costumes. I love the colorful and energetic Bon dance that gets everyone going each year! The Little Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Pageant includes several crowning competitions for girls of different ages. The cultural programs include multi-ethnic entertainment, music, art exhibits, tasting the harvest of many Kona coffee estates, recipe contests, and great holiday shopping. The Kona Historical Society interpretive tour about the Kona coffee farm years from 1925 to 1945 is very interesting. The Kona Coffee Council Farm & Mill Tour is a neat experience visiting three working farms in North and South Kona. Wow, barista, sounds like a full schedule with something for everyone! Yes, indeed, replied the barista. Also, if you have the time, check out the Hawaiian Quilt Workshop and the Hawaiian Master Drum Maker & Wood Carver events.
Barista, coming to your place is always fun and educational. But it's time to go, the surf is calling. We will see each other soon for another great cup of freshly brewed 100% Extra Fancy Grade Kona specialty gourmet coffee!

Go Ahead Have Another Cup of Coffee
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sarah_Labdar]Sarah Labdar
For over the past 100 or so years coffee has gained a bad reputation for being an unhealthy addition to the human diet. However, coffee stands, chains, stores, and cafes have popped up all over the world that are flooded by customers everyday. But for all the hype, people continue to drink coffee day in and day out regardless of the stigma. Maybe that's because coffee in and of itself isn't bad for you at all.
There are several reasons people drink coffee i.e. Taste, boost of energy, caffeine content, or even because its popular. Coffee is made from coffee beans, which are the components behind coffees health benefits. The beans contain nutritionally infused compounds known as caffeine and antioxidants. Both caffeine and antioxidants have different potential benefits to improve health and reduce the risk for chronic illnesses.
Each brew produces a different roast, aroma, and flavor of coffee. Everyone is partial to his or her own flavor, preparation and additives. Coffee is a natural stimulant, containing caffeine, which boosts the body's metabolism giving you more energy and uplifting your spirits. It's no wonder that coffee is the number one drink of choice for breakfast. Many people feel they can't wake up with out their daily caffeine fix, which drives the consumption of coffee and accounts for 80% of the worlds caffeine use. Caffeine's effects on boosting energy are short term regardless of the source consumed i.e. Coffee, caffeinated soft drinks, or chocolate. Therefore the aforementioned reputation of coffee can be squashed.
In actuality coffee can help you slim down and keep you healthy. Coffee's property as a central nervous system stimulant boosts metabolism helping the body to burn calories. Caffeine increases available energy, giving you more energy to function. In addition to being a stimulant, caffeine is a mild diuretic which increases the need to urinate. The more you pee the more water, toxins and waste is excreted from the body. Lastly, coffee in itself is very low in calories, it's when you start adding cream, sugar, milk, half & half, or flavoring that the calories and fat increases. A 6-ounce cup of black coffee has only 7 calories.
Coffee's health benefits are still being explored however the caffeine and antioxidants within coffee have been found to improve health. Coffee has not been proven to prevent any conditions; only to have potential health perks. Antioxidants within coffee are age fighting compounds, which help the body repair damaged cells from oxygen free radicals. Coffee has a very strong antioxidant capacity.
Caffeine has been shown to improve a range of symptoms such as mental decline, Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, extra weight gain, and depression. Caffeine has been linked to fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes. In most studies the recommended coffee intake to show a positive effect is a maximum of 4 6-ounce cups a day.
Study after study is being done to show the positive effects that coffee can have on certain diseases and disorders. The most recent research shows the link between drinking coffee and lowered depression in women. The study from the Archives of Internal Medicine showed that women who drink 4 cups of coffee a day are 20% less likely to show signs of depression or become depressed. The brain receptors that respond to the stimulant caffeine when entered into the body are concentrated in the basal ganglia. This area is important for determining depression and Parkinson's. Low dose, chronic stimulation caused by consumption of caffeine from coffee makes these receptors more efficient causing one to have less depressed feelings. This doesn't lower the risk of depression however it only protects against it.
Another disease shown to benefit from coffee consumption is Type 2 diabetes. There are more than 15 published studies showing solid data that people who drink 4-6 cups of coffee a day regardless of sex, weight, or location have a 28% lowered risk of Type 2 diabetes. Each additional cup of coffee drops the odds by 7%. The thought is the antioxidants in coffee help to prevent tissue damage. Additionally coffee contains the minerals magnesium and chromium. These minerals help the body to use the hormone insulin, which is the main problem in people who have Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can also lead to heart disease and stroke; therefore by lowering the risk for diabetes you are also preventing heart disease and strokes. Drinking coffee has been linked to lower risks for heart arrhythmias in both men and women and lowered risk of strokes in women. By drinking 1-3 cups of coffee you are 20% less likely to be hospitalized for abnormal heart rhythms and drinking 2 or more cups lowers your risk for stroke by 20%.
The research data on coffee also is very consistent on protecting against Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Caffeine has been shown to protect against certain neurotoxins, which lead to the development of Parkinson and Alzheimer's. A higher consumption of coffee is associated with a decreased risk of Parkinson's. Due to caffeine in coffee there is an 80% reduced risk of Parkinson's disease. Coffee has also been linked to lower dementia a leading symptom of Alzheimer's. When you drink 3-5 cups of coffee a day you reduce your risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's by 65%.
With the intense cancer research out there, data has been consistent between coffee and liver cancer. High coffee consumption has been associated with a decreased risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. There is an 80% reduced mortality risk of cirrhosis associated with coffee consumption. Additional studies are being done to confirm the positive effects of coffee on headaches, asthma, colon cancer, gallstones and cavities.
Despite the health benefits to the body, coffee is best drunk in moderation. High coffee intake can bring on headaches, increased heart rate, or cause insomnia. Heavy caffeine use can also cause problems such as restlessness, anxiety, irritability, and sleeplessness. Caffeine has also been known to raise blood pressure and because of its acidity it can worsen heartburn. If you experience any of these symptoms its important to wean yourself off of coffee to avoid any increase in side effects. Also consult your physician to determine if other factors are involved.

Do Old Coffee Grounds Work As Fertilizer?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Linda_Murdock]Linda Murdock
First, what makes up brewed coffee, besides caffeine? Nutrition experts agree that coffee grounds contain magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, manganese and trace amounts of calcium. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the ingredients necessary for garden soil. They coincide with the figures you see on most fertilizer bags. So coffee does have what plants need to grow.
There seems to be some debate about whether or not coffee produces nitrogen. Most agree that coffee grounds contain 1.5 to 2.2% nitrogen. However, some feel that the nitrogen is not available to the soil or the plants until the grounds themselves begin to decompose.
Others say you must compost the coffee grounds with other plants to release the nitrogen in the decomposition process. They recommend adding nitrogen to the soil if using only the grounds. The rotting grounds attract nitrogen-consuming microbes, thus, the need to add nitrogen if using only coffee grounds as a fertilizer.
So to be on the safe side where fertilizing is concerned, you may be better off tossing your coffee grounds along with other compost into the garden in the fall and winter to allow them time to be of best use for spring planting.
When I emptied coffee grounds on top of the soil last fall and spring, I did not include it in a compost. I did use 8 to 10 cubic feet of a peat and compost mixture in the spring that I emptied all over my garden, which is 13 by 33 feet. I turned the soil about 6-8 inches deep before planting. I've never had tomatoes produce so much in my four years of gardening.
How does the acid in coffee affect things? The coffee you drink is acidic, but the grounds afterward are closer to neutral on the pH scale. Some argue that they retain their acid level until combined with compost and its microbes, which neutralize it. Either way acid is great if your soil is low in it (alkaline). In the West, where I live, soils are alkaline and getting closer to neutral or increasing the acid content is a good thing for my strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and radishes. Keep in mind that you have to use quite a bit of grounds to make any real difference in the pH scale.
Coffee grounds have other benefits aside from being a fertilizer. They boost the heat in soil better than most composting materials, including manure. These high temperatures kill seeds from weeds or vegetables that may have made their way into the compost pile. If you are thinking about raised beds, consider lining the bottom edges with coffee grounds to prevent weeds from sneaking in.
Other benefits to using coffee grounds in the garden include its ability to attract earthworms, thereby improving soil structure. It even keeps cats from pooping in your garden. (Our neighborhood stray poops along the outside of the garden instead!) If tomato blight is a concern, there are some who think the copper in coffee grounds keeps this at bay.
Coffee grounds are also good at keeping away pests for both inside plants and outside flowers, like hostas, roses, lilies, peonies or those grown from bulbs. The caffeine discourages slugs and snails. You can add about 2 cups of grounds to a 5 gallon jug of water and let it steep overnight. Use it to water plants and don't be afraid to water the leaves, too.
So whether or not coffee grounds include enough nitrogen to be used as a fertilizer, its pest deterrent qualities and attraction to earthworms has more than sold me on its benefits. If you aren't a coffee drinker, just ask your local coffee shop if you can have their leftover grounds. It not only helps them dispose of waste, but it also helps create a more abundant, inexpensive and organic garden.

This is a big contrast to the shops that sell caffeine products that are questionable when it comes to ingredients. Keep you money where it belongs, in your pocket, and try the following gadgets to make your coffee and espresso time at home memorable and pleasurable without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home.
Bosch Tassimo Coffee Maker
This single serve coffee maker brews at the touch of a button making it easy to create a delicious cup of coffee on the fly. The T-Disc is used to pour coffee directly in to your cup so it is ready to go when you are. The best part is that there is no need to measure or fuss over the machine and there is practically no clean up involved!
Aerolatte Electric Milk Frother
Everyone who likes a good cup of espresso needs a milk frother. This hand held, battery powered milk frother is perfect for small kitchens that don't have a lot of space for table top appliances. The stainless steel frother gives you the results you want in less than 30 seconds. Both cold and hot milk can be used with it depending on what kind of drink you are trying to make.
Bialetti Stovetop Espresso Maker
This stovetop espresso maker will have up to three, two ounce servings of your favorite brew ready to drink within just five minutes. The durable aluminum material makes this a winner for camping trips too. The flip top and pour spout make this one convenient product that you don't want to miss out on.
Breville Smart Grinder
This thing has 25 different grinder settings to make espresso, French press coffees, drips, and percolator options too. The easy grip handle and drip resistant lip keep things under control so there is minimal clean up.
How DO You Make an Espresso?
The first step is to grind whole espresso beans into a powder. You would then load the ground espresso powder into your stove top espresso maker. From there simply tamp the ground beans down into the maker so that it is somewhat firmly packed and then brew the beans, using clean filtered water of course. Once the brewing is finished, add your frothed milk and chocolate or other spices, like cinnamon, that you like then enjoy!

Coffee Machine Reviews - Best Coffee Machine
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Stuart_Riley]Stuart Riley
What could be better than a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the comfort of your own home?
Well, if that's something you love, a coffee machine could just be the perfect addition to your kitchen. However, there is so much choice out there that finding the best coffee machine for you can be difficult.
From well-known brands like Tassimo and De'Longhi, high-end brands like Jura, to niche brands like Francis Francis and Ascaso.
Not only that, each brand offers a plethora of models and types. There are traditional espresso machines, more expensive automatic bean-to-cup machines, and the increasingly popular pod and capsule type. Not forgetting the good old filter machine of course.
Once you've decided what kind of machine to go for you then have the headache of trying to find a model within your price range.
With such a lot to consider let's see if we can clear things up and look at some of the main brands and machine types in more detail in the following coffee machine reviews.
Espresso machines are still very popular despite being around for a long time now. Ground coffee is used in these machines, which means that you can brew an espresso just the way you like it, and to coffee shop standard, using your favourite coffee.
The problem with this is that you need to do everything manually from measuring the correct quantity of coffee to put into the machine, and tamping down the coffee just enough to get the desired result, to having to clean the machine after every use. So it really depends on what's important to you - if you want full control over the brewing process, including pressuring the correct amount of water through the coffee to extract just enough flavour in order to get the best possible espresso, then an espresso machine could be for you.
However, most modern espresso machines can accept coffee pods, which contain pre-prepared ground coffee that you just place in the machine. While this simplifies some of the issues above it does narrow the choice of coffee you have and the control over the brewing process.
Most coffee machine companies produce espresso machines, such as the De'Longhi Icona ECO310. In terms of price it really depends on what you're looking for. The Krups XP5240 might be a good choice if you're simply looking for a no-frills machine that delivers a good espresso. If build quality is key the Cuisinart EM200U is a good choice - it'll go forever and produce great coffee. Maybe design is the most important factor? Then how about the stunning Francis Francis range or Ascaso Dream - but you'll pay a premium for looks.
If you want your morning coffee quicker and with less fuss, a pod or capsule system could be the answer.
Whilst being simple and cheap to use these machines produce a good cup of coffee and are becoming increasingly popular in busy homes.
They also often offer a lot of choice as you can buy capsules that can produce an array of different drinks, from lattes and cappuccinos to teas and hot chocolate.
These machines have their own range of capsules which are specifically made for that particular system.
A sealed amount of ground coffee is contained in each capsule which is simply popped into the machine, which in turn usually reads a bar-code on the capsule and then produces the drink through a set of pre-programmed stages. All very clever, simple, and clean.
Each capsule is simply removed from the machine after use and disposed of.
There are many well known producers of this type of machine such as Tassimo (Bosch), Dolce Gusto (Krups), and Senseo (Philips). They all offer a more affordable option than the last type we'll look at - automatic bean-to-cup machines.
As the name indicates automatic bean-to-cup machines produce coffee directly from coffee beans. Also, as the name suggests, all this is taken care of by the machine. You simply have to feel the container on top of the machine with your personal choice of coffee beans, set the machine up with your individual settings, and the machine does everything else - it grinds the coffee beans, measures the correct amount of grounds, tamps the grounds, extracts the flavour from the grounds at a professional 15 bar (or higher) pressure, and also froths milk if required.
The great thing about automatic bean-to-cup machines is that they provide great coffee like an espresso machine and yet offer the simplicity of a capsule machine.
But that comes at a price. High-end machines like the Jura S can set you back a pretty penny, while the popular De'Longhi Prima Donna and Magnifica models, while still expensive, will cost considerably less. The Krups Espresseria EA8080 offers great value at a similar price to a top of the range espresso maker.
So you pay your money and take your choice, but with so much choice on offer there really is something for every taste and every budget.
Want Your Own Personal Barista? Get a Tassimo Instead
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lisa_Davies]Lisa Davies
The rise of the coffee shop has been nothing short of meteoric in recent years but if you need a daily coffee fix or two then you can end up parting with some serious cash. With the current rises in food and fuel costs now is probably a good time to contemplate having your own coffee shop right in the comfort of your own home. Thanks to advances in home coffee machines lately this is eminently possible. Forget the jar of instant languishing in your cupboard and check out some of the single-serve coffee machines that are all over the place. Having one of these can be almost like having your own personal barista on call 24/7.
Tassimo coffee makers by Bosch are among the most popular home coffee machines on the market and have been for a number of years. They produce a cup of coffee or other hot beverage at just the touch of a button thanks to the 'intelligent' T-DISCS that the machines take. You choose your flavour of T-DISC, which is essentially a shallow capsule, pop it into the machine which then reads its barcode which tells it precisely how to brew the drink. This varies depending on whether it's an espresso capsule, a milk capsule or a long coffee etc. The Brewing takes place within the T-Disc which means the system itself stays relatively clean.
The T-Discs come in a wide variety of flavours which is where the Tassimo pips some of the other popular brand capsule coffee machines such as the Dolce Gusto which have a more limited range of drinks to choose from. The Tassimo has offerings from Starbucks, Twinings tea and Carte Noire to name but a few so you're bound to find something to your liking.
There are different models of Tassimo starting with the T20 entry level model up to the T65.The Tassimo T20 is the smallest of the range with a 1.5L water reservoir. Next you have The T40 which is probably the most common. It has a bigger 2L reservoir, so better suited for family use, and also allows you to manually tweak how your drinks are brewed so you gEt your coffee exactly how you want it. The T65 has a built-in BRITA MAXTRA water filter and LCD screen which tells you when it needs more water as well as a cup stand that lights up.

Coffee Makers - Gourmet Coffee Without the High Price
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=K_J_Charbeneau]K J Charbeneau
Coffee shops such as Starbucks are great places to hang out and socialize, but an expensive way to get a good cup of Joe. Here are some tips for choosing the perfect coffee maker for those who want to make gourmet coffee drinks at home, without the gourmet price.
First, decide whether you want an espresso machine or other machine, such as drip or percolator. Espresso machines are expensive and require a little more work, most machines require that you make each cup of separately, however, they allow you to make a variety of styles: Lattes, Cappuccino, Macchiato, etc. Regular drip makers are less expensive and they allow you to simply turn the coffee "on" and let it brew two or more cups on it's own with not much work on your part. This is handy when you're serving several people at once. Many drip makers allow you to program them to start brewing automatically, at a time you choose. You can wake to the great aroma of tasty brew. Drip makers also allow you to use flavored coffee and to change the strength of the coffee by changing the coffee to water ratio.
Other rel=nofollow [http://www.duny-coffee-makers.com/]coffee maker options include stove top pots or "Moka" coffeepot and the French Press or plunger press pot. The stove top pot will yield very strong, dark coffee which can be used to make styles of coffee that espresso machines make such as cappuccino. The French press allows you to control the strength of the coffee but is a little more complicated to use than a drip coffee machine. With a French press, you let the coffee grounds steep, similar to making tea. The grounds will float to the top then a plunger type device with a filter is used to push the grounds to the bottom of the pot separating them from the brew.
You'll also want to consider coffee maker accessories. A good grinder allows you to buy whole coffee beans and grind them yourself at home. Grinding beans fresh before each service yields great, fresh tasting coffee. Roasters allow you to roast green coffee beans in your home for a super fresh brew. Milk frothers are used to make the foamy milk topping for cappuccino and other coffee drinks. Also, don't forget a good scoop measure for consistent strength, some nice heavy coffee mugs to keep the brew warm and a travel mug so you can take it with you!

Green Coffee Weight Loss
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=M_Edward]M Edward
There is some great power that has been discovered using green coffee weight loss especially in America. With a lot of misinformation in this modern world, it is becoming more essential for people to take responsibility of their health through getting the right information. Weight loss is no different, it to has been crowded with people claiming they can make you lose instantly but all in the wrong ways. The solution thus lies in making sure that every weight loss program you indulge in is healthy and will leave you with no medical complications. Such include green coffee consumption.
The green coffee power
Green coffee can be found in many forms. Some people consume it as a herb put naturally in coffee, others in extracts, while to some, they get the green coffee in diet pills. Discovered by Chinese in the ancient period, the green tea was used for both its medical and herbal benefits. One of the major benefits in regard to weight loss is its ability to speed the body's metabolic system. This will obviously result in cutting weight as the body burns the excess calories in the system. The other health benefit is that it will clear up the waste materials in the body and prevent their accumulation.
The green coffee is known to contain EGCG a very popular and common ingredient that is found in many diet pills.
Where to get it
As I have already said, it can be consumed in tea but some also consume it from extracts. Fresh and unroasted coffee beans can be useful in helping lose weight. These beans are known to contain a Chlorogenic acid which is capable of reducing the sugar intake and lowering the glucose levels thus aiding in weight loss.
The green coffee diet pill is also created from this extract. The pill is thus capable of increasing the rate of burning coffee in the body and limiting the carbohydrate storage in the body. This makes it possible for a person to lose weight without necessarily exercising.
How to make it effective
This is no magic pill. As much as green coffee can make you lose weight, it is good to make it more effective by combining it with some other thing like exercise. It is possible to sit back and let it work it for you but this might take quite some time. If you want to speed this up, make sure that you incorporate something else.
Again, make sure that you avoid other caffeine coffee. They contain high amounts of calories and could result in weight gain rather than weight loss as they double the muscle fat contained in your body.
And if you are on diet pills other than the natural coffee form, be very careful as some companies are out to sell false pills which have nothing but active ingredients harmful for your health. However, some experts and nutritionists say that green coffee weight loss is quite promising when it comes to losing weight.
Visit http://bestdiet101.net now and discover the secret to a successful and permanent weight loss. It's proven effective and it really works.

Don't let the fad diets fool you! If you're really serious about losing weight and you want to kick your weight loss problem for good, then I suggest you Click Here Now

Brazilian Coffee, The Coffee Valley Festival, And Cafezinho: A Match Made In Beans!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Timothy_S._Collins]Timothy S. Collins
The Festival Vale do Cafe (The Coffee Valley Festival) is a ten-day celebration of classical music, Brazilian popular music, folkloric music, jongo, caxambu, capoeira, calango, can-verde, maculele, samba, choro, bossa nova, forro, Brazilian jazz, and orchestral works, among other music.
The event takes place from late July to early August each year. It is one of the world's best music festivals worth attending. The venue is in the Paraiba River Valley in Rio de Janeiro state. This is a beautiful region of rolling green hills, mild weather, blue skies and small towns.
The Festival Vale do Cafe was started about nine years ago by Cristina Braga, first harpist of the Symphonic Orchestra of Rio's Municipal Theater, and Turibio Santos, considered one of the best Brazilian classical guitarists alive. The seating capacity for the events is limited and tickets sell fast. The event is very successful and attracts many artists, famous people, tourists, and investors. The town of Vassouras has many colonial buildings and impressive estates on old coffee farms. In the 19th century, this valley was Brazil's coffee-growing center. Over time, coffee moved to other regions of Brazil that include Parana, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Bahia.
Vassouras is a town that is fast changing and becoming a world-class cultural destination. There are already many high-end hotels, villas and hotel-spas. Gourmet restaurants featuring Brazilian and international cuisine delicacies please the most demanding palates. Brazilian coffee is served at all hours to the delight of coffee and music lovers seeking the extra buzz in their Cafezinho servings. Cafezinho is a small but potent coffee serving that re-energizes the body for the never ending dance rhythms playing all around.
The Festival Vale do Cafe attracts the best names in music that perform all types of music styles in settings that are very picturesque and intimate. For example, there are events in the church and main square of Vassoura as well as in other area cities that are free to the public. The concerts staged at preserved coffee plantations or "Fazendas" in the region require admission fees well worth paying. These coffee plantations date back to the 19th century and have history anchored in slavery which Brazil abolished in 1889. They are very impressive estates with beautiful landscaping, tropical flowers and many varieties of trees. One of the most unusual trees is the Bombax, a tree without leaves covered by pink flowers. The leaves grow after the flowers die, a rather unusual phenomenon that makes this tree a mystery to many.
The Institute of Preservation and Development of the Paraiba Valley, PRESERVALE, promotes the restoration of the magnificent 19th century coffee mansions as close as possible to their original condition. Coffee estates include Fazenda Cachoeira do Mato Dentro; Fazenda Cachoeira Grange; Fazenda Secretario; Fazenda Mulungu Mermelho; Fazenda Santa Eufrasia; Fazenda Sao Fernando; and Fazenda Sao Luiz da Boa Sorte. Many of these plantation estates are open to the public. A few offer sleeping accommodations to visitors in the former slave quarters, an interesting experience.
Visiting the coffee plantations provides a unique first hand view of plantation lifestyle and a good understanding about the land, crop and people management challenges the plantation owners had. One of the best programs of the festival is the Cortejo de Tradicoes. This is a choreographed representation of regional musical and cultural traditions. Basically, it resembles a parade of Afro-Brazilian traditions performed simultaneously by many colorful groups. From a historical and musical perspective, this presentation alone proves how rich the Brazilian heritage is as a result of its multicultural population.
Brazilian Coffee, the Coffee Valley Festival, and plenty of cafezinho make the festival one to put on the travel planning calendar. For now, what about drinking a cup of smooth, delicious Brazilian Santos Bourbon specialty coffee?

Why Choose Coffee From Hawaii?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Suzanne_H.]Suzanne H.
For a large number of us, coffee is just a way of getting through the morning. For some of us, finding the perfect coffee bean and brewing it in a way that best brings out the flavor is an art form. I won't tell you that Hawaiian coffee is the best coffee in the world, to each, his own. What I am saying is that if you haven't tried it, you'll most likely find it a valuable addition to your favorites list.
What first attracted me to it was that it's grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil; so my thought process was that the quality of what's grown in Hawaii must be superb. To get the best cup of coffee possible, it makes sense to start with high-quality beans. Hawaii has perfect growing conditions, and it's reflected in the taste of their coffees.
Coffee was brought to the island of Oahu in the 1800s and over time, spread to the other major islands in the chain. Coffee production is in the neighborhood of six million pounds a year plus, but much of this consists of family farms cultivating small plots of land. It is the only state where coffee is commercially grown and a very small percent of the coffee produced worldwide. Even though that's the case, there's a high demand for Kona across the globe. What's the reason? It's the soil, perfect weather conditions and family owned plantations where hand picking of the cherries is still employed. It's this combination that produces such a unique coffee.
Kona coffee is grown only in the Kona District on the Big Island and worldwide is probably the best-known gourmet coffee. Less well-known is that there are coffee plantations on Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Molokai. These beans come with the same advantages Kona offers, but providing more depth to your choice. It's worth a little effort to investigate. You'll find numerous plantations offering a wide variety of coffees, including flavored coffees, espresso Hawaiian style and organic coffees.
There's one other advantage I think has become too easy to overlook when we're "consuming." In a world where small business is becoming extinct and we're losing out on the advantage it has to offer, it feels good to support it. We're helping to preserve a little of our past by supporting these plantations who still employ old-time methods making it a win -- win for everyone. Why a Coffee Grinder Is Essential
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joyce_Kaaland]Joyce Kaaland
Why a coffee grinder is essential has many reasons. First, roasted coffee beans start to lose their aroma immediately when exposed to the air and usually have a dull unpleasant taste within five to seven days. This process of oxidation happens even faster with ground beans. They will start to become dull and unpleasant after 24 hours.
Roasted beans can be put in the freezer to help maintain the freshness of newly roasted beans. However, after five to seven days the freshness of the coffee will begin to decline even in the freezer. Putting ground beans in the freezer is not recommended. If you choose to put a small batch in a sealed glass or ceramic container, once you take them out of the freezer and use part of them you cannot put them back in the freezer. The main reason is they have now been exposed to air, moisture, heat and light.
A coffee grinder is a must if you want the freshest tasting coffee possible. Whether you buy green coffee beans and roast a small amount at a time or whole coffee beans that are in a dark sealed bag, a grinder will allow you to grind the size of beans who want. Household coffee grinders have at least four or more grind settings. If you want a grind for a drip coffee maker or a percolator, you can grind the exact amount you need just before you make your coffee. You will be surprised in the improved taste your coffee now has over pre-ground coffee that comes in a bag.
If you are an espresso fan, you will notice the difference when you use an espresso grinder as well. Grinding your coffee just before you make an espresso improves the favor of your espresso. If your grinder has a greater number of grind choices or an infinite number of choices, you will notice that different espresso grinds will change the aroma and flavor quality of your espresso. This ability to have different espresso grinds also allows you to personalize your espresso strength. Finer grinds of coffee beans produce a stronger flavor espresso. Pre-ground espresso coffee beans are what you get without any real choice in grind size.
For the best tasting coffee no matter what type of coffee maker you choose there are three things you should have. The first is a small coffee roaster that roasts around a third of a pound of green coffee beans to the length you desire. The second is a good coffee grinder, preferably a rel=nofollow [http://www.coffeemakersshop.com/product/BG88PR_NESCO-BG88PR-Coffee-Grinder-Professional]burr grinder that has a good number of choices or better yet infinite choices of grinds. Third is a better quality coffee maker; one that will allow you to make a small batch to a large batch of coffee at one time without a weak brew when you make a small batch. However, when it comes to the quality of coffee you produce, it is freshly ground coffee beans that can make the biggest difference.

Keurig Special Edition Coffee Brewer - K-Cups Are Here To Stay
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Wayne_Rasku]Wayne Rasku
The Keurig Speicial Edition has presented us with an excellent option for choosing a coffee brewer. This new kind of coffee brewer has become part of the day-to-day coffee drinking experience of many coffee lovers. It fits right in with our current trend toward "having it our way" and "having it now." No more waiting for the coffee maker to heat water and drip through the filter for a cup of brewed coffee. And, even more convenient, no more messy clean-up!
It does sound too good to be true, right? Actually, the Keurig Special Edition has been on the market for several years now. So it is now a trusted system that has stood the test of time. For some of us who have resisted the change, it make our old pot look like an ancient household item that should be taken to the Antiques Roadshow.
Acceptance of single cup brewers has been somewhat slow, but it is now here to stay. The design is solid, and the bugs have been worked out so that purchase of this brewing system is no longer an option for just a few who are willing to try out something new and innovative. You will be joining masses of folks who are now believers.
Keurig Special Edition Design
Engineers and designers have collaborated to bring us a trendy looking design that works with great efficiency. It has all the conveniences you will want to make your morning cup of Joe quick and easy. The built in clock can be set to heat the water just in time for your arrival at the kitchen counter. All you have to do is insert your favorite k-cup and press the appropriate serving-size button. In less than a minute, you will be getting that morning lift to start your day right.
The great news is that there is no guess-work involved. Each k-cup is exactly the same, so you get the right strength every time. When done, just raise the lid and dispose of the little container. No muss, no fuss.
The Keurig Special Edition Concept
Single serve coffee is now such a big deal among coffee drinkers that many appliance makers are trying to break into the market. But the truth is that coffee manufacturers have recognized the dominance of k-cups as the vehicle of choice. It is the obviously the most popular among single-serve systems.
What does that mean to consumers? It simply means that by choosing a Keurig Special Edition, you get the widest variety of brands available. Practically every type of coffee that is available on the grocery shelf is now available as a k-cup, or it will be available soon.
So, if you have been holding out to see if this "single-cup" concept is just a trend, the wait is over. It is no longer a trend. Single cup coffee is here to stay, and the Keurig Special Edition brewer is at the top of the list as a preferred brewer.
